Improving gender equality in the media in the Western Balkans

Participation of women in the media is unequal around the world. This is confirmed through research globally and in the Western Balkans specifically.

There is an opportunity for the media to play an important role in providing a voice to underrepresented people and communities that may have been excluded in the past.

Our Media for All gender programme activities support promotion and development of  gender equality in the Western Balkans. We aim to address the inequalities in the experience of men and women journalists, editors and managers through training, networking, mentoring and policy development. We are also researching the impact of Covid-19 on women in the media and exploring how gender policies can help change stereotypes and challenge gender bias.
