The British Council, Swedish Institute and the University of Hertfordshire worked together and completed the study focused on barriers to development of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in the Western Balkans.
Extensive scoping and research has been conducted by the University of Hertfordshire, in particular by Mr Nigel Culkin and Mr Richard Simmons. The output of the research are six individual country reports and one comprehensive Western Balkans report which outline and assess barriers to development of entrepreneurship in the respective countries and in the region as a whole.
In March 2018 at the Breaking Barriers to Entrepreneurship event that has taken place in Belgrade, Serbia, we had a pleasure of having Mr Nigel Culkin present the main findings and highlights from the study reports. On this occasion we had the outstanding opportunity not only to discuss the research results for the first time, but also to exchange experiences, learn from each other and share valuable resources and information with the key stakeholders, including experts from the UK.
